Setting your weight loss goals can be done scientifically and precisely. Most online weight calculators only consider your height and some don’t even consider your gender! That is just plain wrong. These calculators will give you a ‘range’ of healthy weight without any due consideration to your body composition or frame.
The FitButHow calculator factors in all of the above to give you not a range but a specific ideal weight suited to you. You will also find out your target body fat at your ideal weight which will finally reveal your abs!
SHORT NOTE ON THE INPUT PARAMETERS
HEIGHT (in cms) – Use the table below to know your height in cms.
BODY FRAME: Your bone structure determines your overall build and how much weight you can easily carry. The best estimate for this comes from the size of your wrist or ankles.
The EASIEST WAY TO KNOW this is to circle your wrist just above your wrist bone and touch your index finger and thumb. If they overlap, you have a small frame. If they just meet, you are ‘medium’ and if the finger and thumb do not touch each other, you have a ‘large’ frame. If you are confused and not sure you are likely a ‘medium’ frame.
For precise measurements you can use an inch tape to measure the size of your wrist (again just above the wrist bone):
Height under 5’2″
- Small = wrist size less than 5.5″
- Medium = wrist size 5.5″ to 5.75″
- Large = wrist size over 5.75″
Height 5’2″ to 5′ 5″
- Small = wrist size less than 6″
- Medium = wrist size 6″ to 6.25″
- Large = wrist size over 6.25″
Height over 5′ 5″
- Small = wrist size less than 6.25″
- Medium = wrist size 6.25″ to 6.5″
- Large = wrist size over 6.5″
Height over 5′ 5″
- Small = wrist size 5.5″ to 6.5″
- Medium = wrist size 6.5″ to 7.5″
- Large = wrist size over 7.5″

ABOUT THE FORMULAE
The formula used to derive this for men is based on the ‘sexy weight range’ as proposed by Casey Butt and explained in detail by Akash on Fabulous Body. This will give the men, your ideal weight basis your maximum muscle potential.
For women, I have researched multiple formulae and the best that fits both short and tall women is the one derived by Dr JD Robinson in 1983.
